Dec 10, 2012

Hey,
Its my first week in the office super different then what I am used to ha. Before I was used to walking the streets of Uganda teaching and other things, but now it is a little new. Also we had the chance to pick up the new missionaries super awesome experience they have a special feeling when they first get off that plane and it is great to feel the spirit they have. We had new missionary trainings and it was super awesome and spiritual. On the morning of the trainings there is a new missionary named Elder Grilliot and he woke all of us up early by shouting "Elders somethings wrong with the bathroom!!!" We wake up just a little before 6:30 and we see one of the things to keep the water flowing correctly all busted and water was going everywhere and we are standing around and have no idea how to fix it.   We had to get a member Isac to go climb up a long later to turn it off. That is the only way there are some big water tanks outside so he had to turn it off. So that was something funny for the week I felt bad for Elder Grilliot what a great welcome to Uganda ha.  We then had training for the new missionaries and it was so powerful to hear the their testimonies it is a powerful group. They will be great leaders that is for sure. Then throughout the week we did office things and planned with President Jackson what we will be doing for the rest of these few months. We will be traveling a lot too so we will see how that goes I know it will be great. We also have some good plans for exchanges with the missionaries I am excited for that too! Another great part of the week we got to see the opening of a new Branch in Lugazi and it seems like it is going to be super awesome! They are going to have some great leaders there. It was a special experience that I am glad I had the opportunity to see and the great spirit that was felt. Each of the people there bore their testimonies and they are super excited for this and ready for the new challenge. They will do great.
I know that this is where the Lord wants me to be and that he will guide me and help me in this new assignment and I thank you for the advice that was given I know it will help me out so much. I am very grateful for all that you do in sending me emails encouraging and helping me. I got one of the packages and the others I know are on there way so I will wait. What I was thinking that I could do is help some of the African missionaries who don't really get emails or packages and give some few things to them and I believe that will be really neat. So that is my game plan along with giving to some members who are in need. I am so grateful for the great examples that you all are to me I love you all and I am grateful for each and every single one of you and love you all so much! Love
Elder Hildreth

Dear Brother and Sister Hildreth,
We are pleased to inform you that your son Elder Russell Hildreth has been assigned for a season to be an Assistant to the President, in the Uganda Kampala Mission.  He is working with two other Assistants, Elder Omondi and Elder Flinders.
This assignment is the highest leadership responsibility a Missionary can have in the Mission.  An elder who is called to be an assistant is one who has proven himself worthy by his diligence, ability to teach, willingness to serve and exactness in obeying mission rules, devotion to the Mission and to the Lord.  Elder Hildreth meets all these qualifications.  He has a wonderful spirit and is a great example to his fellow missionaries.
We express our deepest gratitude to you for helping to prepare Elder Hildreth for this calling.  You can be very proud of him and his efforts in the Uganda Kampala Mission.  This opportunity will bless his life and prepare him for future service in the church.
We send our respect and love to your family.
Sincerely,
President Eric C. Jackson
Uganda Kampala Mission President
